Description

Digit Dash is a tile game for 2-4 players. Be the first to have zero tiles by forming sets and runs while earning the highest score!

(This can be printed with single extruder printers)

Rules

The rules are listed below, but you can also view the rules by scanning the QR code below. The QR code can also be found on the bottom of the Digit Dash carry case.

Objective:

Be the first to have zero tiles by forming valid sets and runs on the table while strategically using Power Tiles to disrupt your opponents and gain an advantage.

 

Setup:

Tiles: 36 numbered tiles and 4 Power Tiles.

 

 
Dealing

Put all of the tiles face down in a pile. One person deals tiles face down to the rest of the players. When dealing, deal one of the same shape to each player, then cycle to the next shape, and so on, until you've covered each shape and each player has their correct amount of starting tiles.

For example: Josef starts dealing circles to each player until they each have one, then he will deal everyone a square, then a triangle, then a hexagon. He repeats that until all 3 players including himself have the correct amount of starting tiles (6 tiles in the case of 3 players).

Starting Tiles:

2 Players: Each player gets dealt 10 tiles.

3-4 Players: Each player gets dealt 6 tiles.

 

The remaining tiles form the stockpile, and must be face down in the center of the table.

Don't let other players see your tiles! 

 

Gameplay

 

Draw Phase: At the start of your turn, draw 1 random tile from the stockpile and add it to your tile collection.

Play Phase: Form valid sets or runs with tiles from your collection (view valid plays below), and/or add tiles to existing sets or runs on the table. Any tile added to another player’s set or run must be placed in front of you to indicate it’s yours.

Discard Phase: At the end of your turn, discard 1 tile of your choosing from your collection back into the stockpile. Ensure you always have a tile left to discard at the end of your turn.

 

If you cannot play any tiles during the Play Phase, simply proceed to the Discard Phase.

 

Valid Plays

 

Sets: A set is 2-4 tiles of the same number but in different colors.

Example: 7 (red), 7 (blue).

 

Runs: A run is 2-4 consecutive numbers in the same color.

Example: 5 (red), 6 (red), 7 (red), 8 (red).

 

Power Tiles

 

Power Tiles are special tiles that grant unique abilities, adding strategic twists to gameplay. They are drawn randomly from the stockpile.

Swap Tile: Choose a player to reveal any 3 of their tiles to you. Swap 1 tile between your collection and one of the 3 they've revealed (if the player you chose does not have at least 3 tiles, they must reveal whatever they have left).

Steal Tile: Take 1 tile from any set or run on the table and add it to your collection. The set or run must remain valid after the theft.

Skip Tile: Choose a player to skip their next turn.

Peek Tile: Take a look at any 3 tiles in the stockpile, choose 1 to keep, and shuffle the rest back.

You can only use a power tile during your turn after you draw from the stockpile. You can choose to play the power tile before or after you place down any sets or runs (if you can place any). After your play, you only discard the power tile you played, not a number tile. 

Each Power Tile can only be used once and is put in a separate discard pile after use.

 

Winning the Game

 

The game ends when a player discards their last tile and has zero tiles left.

Players calculate their scores:

  1. Add up the values of all tiles in your sets and runs and tiles you have added to other players sets or runs.
  2. Then subtract that with the values of tiles left in your collection (any power tile left in your collection at the end of the game is worth 10 points deducted from your score).
  3. The player with the highest score wins!

You can keep score over multiple games to see who reaches 100 points first, or play for a winner each game.

 

Printing

 

Tiles

This whole game can be printed with only 2 colors, or multiple colors if you have a larger filament selection. There are 40 tiles that are divided into sets of 10, and each of those sets of 10 have their own unique shape (triangles, squares, circles, hexagons).

If you are printing with 2 colors, you can print all 40 tiles in one color, and add a color change in the gcode on the layer where the numbers/text start getting printed.

 

 

If you are printing with multiple colors, print each of the 4 sets of 10 in different colors, making sure to add a color change on the layer where the numbers/text starts to print.

 

 

Whichever way you choose to print it, the tiles will be differentiated by shape anyway.

 

Carry Case

The parts for the carry case can be printed in one shot on the same bed. It requires one color change at the layer shown below.

After its printed, the label slots into the grooves in the case.

 

If you're having trouble sliding it into the slot, Use a hard surface to tap it in.

 

 

And as mentioned previously, the tiles also need a similar color change shown below.
