Description
This mount for the Buddy3D camera is specifically designed for enclosures made by 3DUpFitters, and replaces the original corner bracket in the upper-front-right corner of the enclosure. The design consists of two parts to allow the camera clip to be printed in an optimal orientation for strength and precision of the tabs, and no supports; an additional benefit is that the clip can be mounted at different rotation angles during installation to provide easier cable routing. The mount includes cable tie attachments points and a cable pass-through to provide flexibility of cable routing for different installations.
Thermal press-fit threaded inserts are used to maintain mechanical integrity of the enclosure since it was not possible to incorporated nuts as used with the original bracket.
The bottom side of the clip uses an interleaved, stepped bridging pattern that allows it to print without supports; the steps are in increments of 0.2mm, so for proper printing, use 0.2mm layer spacing.
Step 1: Install the six thermal press-fit threaded inserts (two each on the top, front, and side surfaces of the bracket).
Step 2: Choose the clip orientation (which can be positioned in increments of 45 degrees) for the desired exit direction of the USB cable (the USB connector on the camera will be in-line with the two tabs on the clip after the camera is added). Attach the clip to the base with an M3x10mm screw. It is self-tapping; do not over-tighten. The orientation can be changed later, after installation, by loosening the screw, rotating the clip, and re-tightening the screw.
Step 3: Remove the original corner bracket from the enclosure.
Step 4: Attach the camera mount in the same location as the old corner bracket, and secure with six M4x10mm screws.
Step 5: Line up the slots on the Buddy3D camera with the 2 tabs on the clip, then rotate the camera 90 degrees clockwise to lock it into place (depending on the type of USB connector on the cable and where you have it oriented, you may need to attach the cable first).
Step 6: Since the camera is mounted upside-down, rotate the image on the “Camera” tab in PrusaConnect.
