Description
I designed a planter basket that attaches to the edge of an aquarium, providing a unique and thriving environment for aquatic plants. The basket is designed to hold clay balls that support a variety of plant species, which have shown remarkable growth and health in this setup.
The planter basket features a built-in ledge that aligns with the top of the aquarium's glass wall, allowing for seamless integration with an owner supplied lid, providing full support for the lid around the tank. The design is optimised for healthy plant growth, with a spacious interior to accommodate clay balls and the plant roots. Interestingly, the fish in our aquarium seem drawn to the roots that hang through the basket, adding an extra layer of visual interest to the setup.
The planter basket in the attached models measures 250mm in length. As this may not suit your needs, I've created a parametric design document using onshape that allows for easy customisation and modification. The document includes a list of variables that control various aspects of the basket's design, making it simple to adapt the design to suit your specific needs.
The onshape design document is available publicly, and I invite you to access, copy and modify it to create your own custom planter baskets. You can find the onshape document at:
