Description
This is a magnetic Dust Boot/Shoe for a CAMaster Stinger CNC. it Uses 8mmx3mm magnets and standard run of the mill 2" dust brush from Amazon.
The post is made in 3 parts. an outside shell and a 2-piece inner core to be epoxied together. I did it this way for strength. The outer shell ensures the post is round but if you print it upright id doesn't have a lot of strength in the direction needed. I mad e the core in 2 pieces so they can be printed flat on the bed. this gives the core strength in the opposite direction of the shell. When epoxied together it is supe strong. You can also just use a ¾" dowel, plastic rod, etc.
Adjustable magnet strength. I included some 8mm plugs you can print to cover any magnet holes you don't want to use. Make the dust boot as strong or weak as you want. Plug the rest of the holes so you don't have to worry about getting dust in the holes.
Depending on the dust brush you get it might be slightly tight or loose. I would use some silicone or a hot glue gun to keep the brush in place and it will be easily removable when it needs to be replaced.
I have also included an 4" to 2-1/2 " adaptor that fits my Ridgid shop vac. It may or may not fir yours. I made it in 2 pieces that can be epoxied together so you don't have to print with supports.
You have to glue the post and the 4" dust hose connector on to the top.
01/20/25 - I am adding a version 2 that is a little more compact. The original copied the dimensions of the OEM dust shoe. There are 4 version 2 parts you need to print: upper, lower, dust ring and the dust hose connection. The post is the same. the parts need to be glued together.
