Desk Arm

Description
INTRODUCTION
This design is a work in progress (feedback is well appreciated). My main function for this arm is to hold my phone for recording videos at my desk. However, it is not limited to holding a phone - attachments can be easily swapped. I have included a .step file with the basic base for attachments, so making custom attachments is as easy as possible.
CHANGE LOG:
1/22/2025: Added swivel
2/14/2025: Updated swivel base to be more sturdy, and uploaded .step file.
4/3/2025: Updated Nut and Tolerances
4/6/2025: Added Mic Attachment for Razer Seiren V3 Mini USB Microphone
SPECIFICATIONS
The arm has a max extension of 292mm. However, during my first test print (fully in PLA) the additional weight of my phone caused the arm to droop at extreme extensions. The range was practical for my purposes, but I plan to explore printing with TPU to increase the possible range with a phone attached.
To mount the arm, a 25mm (~1 inch) lip is required around the table or flat surface. The thickness of the flat surface can range between 15mm-35mm.
Phone Attachment
The phone mount is currently the only attachment I have posted. It can hold a phone with a width of 70mm-110mm
Razer Seiren V3 Microphone Attachment
This mic attachment is meant for this mic: Razer Seiren V3 Mini USB Microphone
The attachment is designed to use M3 screws from this kit to lock the mic in place, but a zip tie works great too!
Build your own Attachments
In the files I've included the .step file for the attachment base, so if you need to adapt this model for any other purpose the base is already there!
FILAMENT
Below is the Hatchbox PLA filament that I used for the first iteration of this model. However, I believe TPU may be a better choice for the main body parts (I have not tested it yet, though! If you choose TPU I would love to know your results). PLA worked for what I initially needed it for.
HATCHBOX 1.75mm Orange PLA: This filament is very unique and vibrant. I love using it with other filaments. I printed the screws and nuts with this filament.
HATCHBOX 1.75mm SPARKLE BLUE PLA: I like this filament too! (I was unable to find this filament being sold on Amazon, and as of writing this it is sold out elsewhere that I checked). I did find this HATCHBOX 1.75mm Peacock Blue TPU that looks similar and is TPU!
(Finally as an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases). If you'd like to support my model making this is great way to do so!
