NFC Chicken Leg Bands

Make identifying your meat birds easier with NFC leg tags.

1. First print out the plastic tags. (obviously)
2. Slide them onto a velcro strap like these.
3. Stick an NFC sticker on the plastic circle and number it with a Sharpe.
4. Use your phone to write any data you want to the leg band. I created a custom website that opens when you tap the tag with your phone. All it really needs to be is a number or line of text.

Now all you need to do to identify your chicken is hold your phone near the tag. No more scraping poop off a leg band to read a faded number. These were so helpful when we had to weigh all 36 of our Cornish Rock Crosses each week for our 4-H livestock project. It saved us hours in that coop. I do recommend still writing a number on the band incase the tag breaks.
