Description

This is a remix whereby the mount is changed to that popular mount (here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3020026).

NOTE: This is a remix from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4649148 (edit tool does not let me attribute correctly!)

Hence, a drop-in-replacement from a wobbly spool that occasionally causes unwinding problems to one that rolls really smooth because it is kept on-centre.

Also, I've added a modification for a 5mmx9mm bearing (I didn't have the other one handy).

The FreeCAD source file is included for the centre hub and is parameterized so you may changes as needed.

And finally, for the outer nut, note that I did scale in the X and Y direction by 3% to make a nice loose spinning fitting (2% may work better, a little less loose but the 3% still locks on a spool just fine).

Also, hardware wise, I'm using two 5mm ID by 9 mm OD by 3mm deep side by side bearings (these are the extra ones that come from a Titan Aero kit) and a 3mm x 50 mm screw (as shown in picture) that was salvaged from an HP printer. Yeah, all about saving hardware and fully dissembling old appliances for recycling etc. these days. The screw is a little long but it adds nice rigidity and support to the hub which is otherwise a super flimsy bit of plastic.

In regards to assembly, all parts are shown less the two bearings. You could optionally glue in retaining ring described in original make but I didn't find it necessary.
