Description
This is a FanDuct for the Creality Ender 5 reworked from scratch to fit the stock setup (hotend+backplate) as well as the MicroSwiss DirectDrive and is made for 3x 40mm fans (Noctua NF-A4x20 FLX in my case).
.
.
The new version has a few key differences to the versions before:
.
.
V3.0:
-Removable Cable Guide for the MicroSwiss version to organize the cables with zip ties
-Bigger opening at the bottom of the duct to prioritize air flow over air pressure
-Relocated some screw locations to allow for easier (dis-)assembly
-Rounded edges at the back of the cable guide to allow better fitment with cable ties
-This version can be printed with minimal supports when located with the back side down on the bed and using the support blocker plugin like shown in the pictures.
-Just added files for a version of the FanDuct to be used with
M3 x 4mm height x 5mm diameter threaded inserts! (Filenames have "TI" attached.
.
.
All mechanical connections are to be made using standard M3 screws.
I recommend using washers with the two screws securing the fan duct to the backplate.
.
.
The XY-Offsets can be adjusted to fit this design sending the following commands followed by an M500:
.
.
V3.0:
BLTouch: M851 X-32,186 Y-36,877
.
.
This FanDuct provides better cooling while keeping most of the print area.
Starting from X and Y-Axis in the home position the CAD model shows a safe operation range for the X-Axis of 218mm or up to 223mm with a minimal clearance. For the Y-Axis the CAD model shows 217mm of safe travel or up to 220mm with a very small clearance remaining between the BLTouch and the front cross beam.
Reports from users show they even kept a operation range of 226mm for the X-Axis and 222 for the Y-Axis.
