Mini Tool Box

March 25, 2025
Description
This is a fully 3D printable mini tool box inspired by the US General mini tool box from Harbor Freight and the Kobalt box from Lowe's. The box is slightly shorter in length in order to fit on the print bed of the Bambu P1S but the drawers are about the same size compared to the original US General box.
For those printing with the BambuLab AMS or similar units, print profiles with the color changes incorporated are found on my Maker World here: https://makerworld.com/en/models/955794#profileId-924716. All support settings are preset in the print profiles as well.
I've included optional files for the box with or without the US General logo. There are 2 versions of each drawer, one regular and one with gridfinity, so feel free to print whichever you desire. The box itself is designed to print without supports to reduce filament waste, so that combined with the slightly shorter dimensions of the box compared to the original made gridfinity not a great option and I did not add it there. The drawers will need support at the front under the handle lip, but the main box and the lid need no supports. The lid attaches via a piece of filament inserted through the hinge. As always, make sure your printer is properly tuned to print at proper tolerances so the filament piece will fit through the hinge.
If your printer is too small for this model, you want to use less filament, or just want a smaller tool box, check out my 75% scaled down version found here: https://www.printables.com/model/1191671-mini-tool-box-but-smaller
Settings: 0.4mm nozzle, 0.2mm layer height, 3 walls, 15% infill
Those are the settings I used but feel free to tinker and if you do something different please let me know how it worked out. The model is designed to fit on a 256mmx256mm print bed so you may need to scale it down for smaller printers. Just be aware that the filament might not fit through the hole for the hinge so you may have to get creative there, a wire of some sort should work, there are also metal rods available online of various sizes so you should be able to find something that works.
*Updated Feb. 8, 2025 to fix an issue with the bottom gridfinity drawer pull handle being too small, and removed some unnecessary thickness from the bottom of the box to slightly reduce filament usage. Updated all files to proper orientation for printing.
