After the success of my original model and especially the popular remix by flamingspike, which proved the need for a nice counter cleaner, I improved my previous model. This version is makes cleaning your counter easy, whether in the kitchen, workshop or next to your 3D printer.
Features:
- Included fins, these fins help prevent messes when sweeping debris into the bin. These were first included in Cookiedeluxe's counter cleaner, and flamingspike added it to my previous bin. The fins are slightly flared outward, creating a wider opening to make sweeping debris into the bin even easier.
- The lid doubles as a bench scraper that you can use to wipe the counter clean and shove it right into the bin. It gave me headaches to get right, but I couldn't go without the lid as I use it to store kitchen scraps.
- Prints at an angle without supports. This eliminates the need for supports for the fins, as well as makes the body stronger because of the different orientation of the layer lines. I got the idea from a video by slant3D
- Good stength to filament usage ratio, I thickened some walls while keeping other thin to make the model stronger with only about 25 grams increased filament usage.
- Because the edges of most counters are not sharp, the edge of the bin is slightly lower then the fins. This small detail prevents stuff getting between the edge of the counter and the bin. (see last picture)
Print instructions:
Print the bin on the 45 degree edge between the handle and the bottom (as oriented in the STL). I recommend 3 perimeters. No supports needed.
Print the lid on upside down (as oriented in the STL).
Watch out cleaning it with hot water if printed in PLA.
