Ikea Utrusta Drilling Template for recessed doors

Ikea Utrusta hinge 504.624.80 (with white casing) or 704.624.79 (with black casing)

By default, hinges for horizontal doors (doors lifted when opening) are mounted with the doors remaining outside the cabinet when closed. This is a typical solution for Ikea Metod furniture and others. The hinge comes with a template for such mounting.

Here is a template for mounting doors recessed in the cabinet. When closed, the doors hide in the cabinet opening. This is how Ikea Kallax cabinets are made, for example (when using inserts with doors). But - to mount vertical hinges like this - you need a new template, because all the holes are arranged differently. 
Here are ready-made templates for this type of mounting. They were designed for a modified Kallax shelf unit, but they can be used with other cabinets. They are calculated for a 2-3mm gap between the door and the casing (when the doors are closed)


In normal assembly - the closed door would rest against the frame of the cabinet. Since the entire door hides in the opening when closing, and is not touching the frame, it has nothing to rest. So you need to add some travel limiter, screw it to the sides of the cabinet. I recommend to the sides, not the bottom of the cabinet in the middle, because the hinges are on sides and will press the door on the sides, the limiter in the middle would cause the door to bend into an arc.

As you can see in the photos of my implementation (in kallax) - after drilling holes for screws, and screwing the hinges (and their hangers on the door) according to these holes - everything fits perfectly, and the door after closing - fits well into the frame.

Domyślnie zawiasy do drzwi poziomych (drzwi podnoszone podczas otwierania) są montowane z drzwiami pozostającymi  na zewnątrz szafki po zamknięciu. To typowe rozwiązanie dla mebli Ikea Metod i innych. W komplecie z zawiasem jest templatka dla takiego mocowania.

Tutaj wzór do montażu dla drzwi zagłębionych w szafce, czyli gdy drzwi są zamknięte - chowają się w otworze szafki, licują z nim. Tak mają zrobione np. szafki Ikea Kallax (przy zastosowaniu wsadów z drzwiami). No ale - aby tak zamontować zawiasy pionowe - potrzeba nowej templatki, bo wszystkie otwory są inaczej rozmieszczone. 
Tutaj gotowe templatki dla tego typu montażu. Były projektowane dla modowanego regału Kallax, ale można ich użyć z innymi szafkami. Są wyliczone dla 2-3mm odstępu między drzwiami a obudową (gdy drzwi są zamknięte)

W normalnym montażu - zamknięte drzwi oparły by się o ramę szafki. Ponieważ całe drzwi podczas zamykania chowają się w otworze, to nie mają na czym się oprzeć, gdy nie ma ogranicznika ruchu drzwi. Więc musisz dodać jakiś ogranicznik ruchu, przykręcić do boków szafki. Polecam do boków, a nie spodu szafki na środku, bo zawiasy będą dociągać drzwi po bokach, i ogranicznik na środku spowodowałby  wykrzywianie drzwi w łuk. 

Jak widzisz na zdjęciach mojej realizacji (w kallax) - po wywierceniu otworków pod śruby przez moje templatki, i według tych otworów przykręceniu zawiasów (i ich wieszaków na drzwi) - wszystko pasuje idealnie, i drzwi po zamknięciu - dobrze wpasowują się w otwór.
