Wabeco BF Drill Press T-Slot Bottom Cover

The bottom cover closes the open cast iron bottom on WABECO drill-/milling rigs BF1240, BF1241, BF1242, BF1243; and lets you position nuts and bolts in the T-slots without them sinking down too far.

The covers are fitted with anchors designed for the cast iron base. No drilling required. The anchors may be used for alternative bottom covers as well; such as sheet metal.

Production

The left and the right assembly are provided in separate 3MF files with all parameters given for ABS; just adapt to your material and printer. Please consider material shrinking for dimensional accuracy.

Assembly

Prepare each cover with pre-assembly. Description is for one cover; repeat the same for the second one.

• press the nuts into the wedge's recess
• stack one wedge, one clamp and cover loosely onto another

• mount the screw through all parts, turning it ~two turns into the nut. There should be no tension between the parts
• with all four anchors pre-assembled to the cover, place it carefully on the bottom of the T-slots into the cast iron channels so that all anchors are fully placed

• tighten the screws crosswise while pressing the cover to the cast iron close to the screw; for example by help of a clamp
• all four joints should give a strong and satisfactory connection. Test by tipping on the bottom of the cover; the sound should be solid close to the joints.
