Edit: I now have two alternative CYD cases here and here.

I tried several different cases for my CYD devices (USB C versions) but I could not find one I liked. Either they were a poor fit, had too many holes, were too flimsy, or did not fit the USB C version.  I also didn't want lots of external antenna holes. So I designed this case. It fits the display, USB C power board, power switch, battery, GPS receiver and antenna (optional), and RFID reader (optional). The lid friction fits to the base, with just two small screws to secure it, making it very easy to open and close the case, and it looks nice with minimal exposed fixings.

There are two version of the base, one has a slot for a stylus. This slot is for the DS stlye 90mm stylus as the small white one supplied with the CYD has an akward shape that won't slot in nicely.

It took about a dozen iterations and about a day and a half to get everything to fit exactly, especially the display itself and the micro SD card slot. The display is not central in the LCD panel and many other cases have an ugly black border around some or all of the sides. Also, if you look closely, you will see that the side of the display where the ribbon comes out is raised off of the PCB, so the stand-offs on the case lid have to be different heights to avoid a gap between the display and the case on one side.

Another consideration is that the light sensor is situated where light from the display bleeds out, and so the sensor is affected by the LCD backlight. This case isolates the sensor from the display.

The GPS antenna friction fits to the lid and the receiver board mounts above it to maximise space and reduce the amount of wires linking the lid and the base. I put some double-sided tape between the antenna and the board for extra security and to insulate the receiver PCB. Note, the GPS antenna only has a thin foil coating on the front so don't stick anything to it.

I secured the RFID reader with double-sided tape.

The USB C board should stay in place by itself but I put some double sided tape underneath it to secure it.

Remove any micro SD card before fitting the lid. The SD card is accessible but you may need a pair of tweezers or small pliers to fully remove it from the case. This is because there has to be a gap between the CYD PCB and the case to allow access to the adjacent connectors.

To open the case, remove micro SD card, then remove screws at the back and tap the case in your hand, the front panel should fall off

Print the top flat side down, no supports required. Print the either base flat side down, supports are required.  I printed both parts at 40% infill, 0.16mm layer height for the final device, but they came out just fine at 15% infill, 0.2mm layer height when I was prototyping. The supports can be tricky to remove from the stylus slot, I find gripping the end and continuously rotating it before pulling it out is the easiest way. Poking around with a round needle file also works.

Here is a list of the parts I used. These are just suggestions and aren't affiliate links. You will find many suppliers selling the same parts if you don't already have them:

2mm x 6mm pan head screws for the screen and GPS (6 required) https://amzn.eu/d/hXnsqmH

2mm x 6mm countersunk screws to secure the case https://amzn.eu/d/aygGhIW

(The four screws for the screen must be no longer that 6mm, the two screws for the GPS PCB and the two screws to hold the case together can be up to 8mm long.)

GPS receiver (1 required if wanted) https://amzn.eu/d/72fcP44

RFID reader (1 required if wanted) https://amzn.eu/d/gYlsV8W

USB PD battery charger (1 required) https://amzn.eu/d/cx5LbaM

13mm x 7mm switch (1 required) https://amzn.eu/d/5Z2gyFK

Stylus (1 required) https://amzn.eu/d/5yUfBQd

If you like this case, a make is appreciated. If you mod it then please  post a remix.
