Description
For the past 2+ years, I've had a Valve Index base station mounted to the wall using 3M Command strips in order to avoid drilling into the wall. A modified version was also created to push the cable behind a nearby frame to hide it. The mount uses the included wall mounts from the Valve Index and can be slid in and out.
This wall mount takes 3 3M Command Large Utility Hooks mounts (the plastic part attached to the wall). 2 have been enough before for a shorter-term installation (4 months). The mounts are offset to mitigate a hinge force from forming.
The print requires a filament that can handle overhangs and support (like PLA). However, with PLA, the additional cable holder will slowly bend due to the weight of the cable. The current prints were tested using Hatchbox PLA with 0.15mm layer height on a Prusa MK3S. 0.2mm layer height will work fine, but supports will be required. There is significant room for remixing as the models are 2+ years old and based on a design that is 4+ years old.
When applying to the wall, the 3M Command mounts should be inserted into the model with adhesive, and then placed on the wall without the base station to let it set.
