Light mod for fan shroud MK3S+

You will first need to run a 5V power line through to your print head and terminate to a Dupont connector.  There are ways you can connect this to the Einsy board but its better just to use USB power. Then pick up Micro Litz wired lead that comes with resistors (amazon) in pure white. 3mm aluminum tube. Shrink tube and another Dupont connector (amazon). 

Print shroud in ASA to resist heat (I thickened the back wall of the shroud to resist warping), ream out hole for tube with 2.3 mm drill bit (don't over do it because you want a very tight friction fit- if not you'll have to superglue the tube in. 90 degree bend tube with bender or it will crack then form tube around side of shroud with a little bend at the end to just peek below the shroud see photo. The majority of the tube should be above the bottom of the shroud so it doesn't block your view to the nozzle. Cut the tube to length see photo and file pocket for the led bulb to fit in so it conceals the led from the outside (makes it easier to see the nozzle without looking directly at a bright light). Fish the led leads through the tube (patience here) once through the tube solder one end of the resistor to the anode of the led (copper wire) see photo, and cut shrink tube and place over wire with room to attach connector. Its good to test connection and power up the light through the process before heating the shrink tube to make sure everything is working properly. Finally crimp the wire with the Dupont connectors and connect. This is a lot of work and not for the impatient but when its done and working its gratifying. Sure just grabbing a flashlight is easy, this was just a fun project.

Photos show support inside the shroud I have removed it since it interfered with cooling and caused stringing.
