Description
Wanted a 3D printed phone mount that would fit in the unused coin slot in the dash on my 2014 F150 Lightning. Something that would lock into place easily so it wouldn't pop out, and would be compatible with the standard AMPS hole pattern.
This should be printed in a heat resistant material since it will be in a vehicle, I recommend PETG/ASA/ABS
I recommend using heat-set inserts, will need 4 M3 and 4 M4, there is also a version that you can screw into the plastic with M3 and M4 bolts.
Will need 4 M3 x 10mm socket cap screws to assemble the two pieces together.
Photos should show the order to install the adapter.
The trailer brake wiring harness can be clipped into the holder on the back of the back-plate.
Place the front-plate on a finger, and then the back-plate on the same finger.
Slide the back-plate into the hole in the dash left from removing the coin slot, and then pull it into place, holding it with your finger.
Push the front-plate down your finger and line up the screw holes with the back-plate, insert the M3 cap screws and screw into place.
Tighten all 4 screws.
Add the AMPS compatible adapter of your choice, shown in the photo is a 25mm ball plate with 2.5" adapter.
Update: Added front and backplate STL files that I think will work with a 2018 F-150, I don't have a vehicle to test with though.
