Description
Thank you Spooknik_160913 & Rhiz0matics_2506753 for your contributions in this remix. This model takes Rhiz0Matics remixed model and removes the slot for the filter. I purchased the same filter pack Rhiz linked and it didn't fit the model I printed from their model. This probably isn't their model's fault but alas, I had fitment issues even though all dimensions were printed accurately. Posting this remix if you run into similar issues.
This model takes Rhiz0Matics idea of using the activated carbon as a pre-filter before passing the air into the HEPA filter.
My remix removes the filter slot and instead press fits the filter into the bottom of the filter bay. Angle it in, press down, presto. Drop the model filled with acid free activated carbon and secure the door with a 2.5 or 3mm X 6 or 8mm length bolt/screw. You should be good to go after that.
Notes:
- Print in something heat resistant like ABS/ASA or in my case I used Clear Inland Polycarbonate.
- I didn't find a need to glue the filter to the print. You can see the smallest of gaps in the photo but in use, I haven't smelled any fumes coming from the printer.
Print recommendations:
- Best printed slow to ensure your layers bond adequately. These small hex patterns can lead to weak layer adhesion and lead to a failure point if you squeeze the model tightly.
- I printed 0.16mm layer height with tree supports. Provided your supports are tuned, you shouldn't have an issue removing them even without an interface filament.
- Follow Spooknik's guide to paint the supports on the rail section.
- Support the underside of the door frame. I used tree supports and painted out everything that wasn't this frame.
- Use a 0.4mm nozzle. I tried my first round with 0.6mm nozzle with Fiberon PA6-GF (and tuned it) and still had a very ugly print. Your mileage may vary if you shrink the layers height down to 0.16mm
You will need the following hardware:
- M2.5 or M3 X 6 or 8mm length bolt/screw (I found both sizes work) to secure the door closed.
