Childproof Drawer Safety Lock - Hook and Latch (Shortened Height and Extended Latch)

A simple hook and latch drawer lock to prevent prying toddler hands from opening drawers and accessing their contents. Few other drawer locks work for my drawers, which are mounted into a face frame and have drawer fronts with narrow clearances for locking hardware. This latch allows drawers to be opened to 1-3/8" (35mm), which is about the minimum amount of room needed to push the hook aside.

I printed these with PLA with 0.3mm layer height, 8 perimeters, and 100% infill and they have held up nicely to some relatively strong tugs.

Custom latches can be made by altering the parameters in the OpenSCAD customizer.
