Description

A romantic triple heart shaped tealight holder for your LED tealights only. The base has a grove for sheets to add some extra detail, but also to make room for your own custom designs.

You will find the details on how to make your own sheets below, be it either 3D printed or you could use any material you desire.

ONLY FOR LED TEALIGHT, OTHERWISE USE FILAMENT SUITABLE FOR THE FLAMING HEAT

I currently don't have any advice on what filament to use for this model to be candle light safe.

Base print settings

I tried to make the model easy and fast to print, no supports, no brim, less sharp corners, chamfered edges for cleaner print.

MaterialPLA, other materials could also be used
NozzleI used a 0.4mm nozzle
Layer heightRecommended: 0.1mm for great definition of edges
0.2mm looks okay too.
Perimeters3 or more to make the features solid
Solid layersAt least 4 for top, 3 is perfect for bottom
Infill10% grid
Skirt/brimNo
SupportNo
SpeedMedium to fast
OptionsI had great success with enabling “Avoid crossing perimeters” and “Automatic infill combination

Sheet print settings

The sheets are designed to be 3 layers thick at 0.1mm each, this gives the best look and fit in my testing.

The sheet design is the same for both the left and right side, but I made individual .stl files to make it easier to print.

I would recommend keeping the print bed side of the printed sheet on the outside.

MaterialPLA, other materials could also be used
NozzleI used a 0.4mm nozzle
Layer height0.1mm to have 3 layers which gives the best flex and fit
Perimeters3 seems like a good compromise
InfillDoesn't matter, there are just three layers, so it would be like 100%
Skirt/brimNo
SupportNo
SpeedMedium to slow, the sheets are fast to print, so slowing down a bit makes the end result better
Options

I had great success with enabling “Avoid crossing perimeters

Both sheets will fit on the build plate, but I will suggest to enable “Complete individual objects” to avoid any potential issues.

Sheet dimensions for your custom designs

The sheets are very simple and the locking mechanism is easy to recreate yourself if you wish to design your own sheets, maybe with you and your partner's names.

  • The entire sheet is 180mm long
  • Each of the three tabs are 8mm wide and 6.75mm deep
  • The grove of the base is 10mm deep, so that part of the sheet will not be visible
  • The spacing of the tabs are detailed in the image above
  • Keeping the sheets total height below 60mm seems to be most stable and easier to mount
