I'm happy to share one last minute addition for Valentine's day - a small emoji-box that combines functionality with playful design. It has a screw-on lid shaped like a heart-eyes smiling emoji, perfect for storing a variety of small items, trinkets, or gifts. There are several sizes available to choose from, so check other print profiles.
The container has a diameter of 100 mm. Multiple heights are available - 30, 41, 66 and 116 mm (the default version is 66 mm tall). The emoji design is integrated into the lid. It features large heart-shaped eyes, which can be printed in contrasting colors, reminiscent of the real emoji. The prototype on the photos was printed using Bambu PLA Sparkle Classic Gold (13402) for the lid and Bambu PLA Sparkle Crimson Red (13200) for the eyes, reflecting the classic emoji colors.
Printing Notes
Lid
- Printing the lid vertically yields a superior top surface finish, though requires robust supports and good adhesion due to the smaller contact area. Please note small defects may appear where the supports attach - hot air gun can help hide them.
- Horizontal printing simplifies the process and enhances the clarity of the outlines, but introduces noticeable layer banding on the face.
- For printing in different materials or colors without AMS, use the version with eye cutouts and print the eyes separately.
- For single color or AMS, use the combined version (see other printing profiles).
Eyes (Hearts)
- Eyes can be printed vertically for better finish or horizontally for a simpler print. Note that printing vertically might make them a more difficult to fit in the cutout. Since banding is also less visible on them, printing horizontally is a good option. Note that the model comes with zero tolerance for the eyes - apply suitable X-Y contour compensation (I used -0.1 mm) for a proper fit. Use glue to secure them.
Body
- The body should not really need adjustments for printing, though it is a fairly snug fit if the lid is printed vertically. If it is too tight, slightly shrinking the body should be the easiest option.
Happy printing!
