Description
This is a simple adapter bracket that provides a mounting surface for clamps to be screwed into, that is secured to a pipe or other base object using standard and/or heavy duty zip ties. It is suitable for coax cable clamps, etc., and many other mounting needs, where mounting with zip ties is the preferred option. For example, in my case, I wanted to secure a coax cable to a pipe, using zip ties (I didn't want to screw into, or glue onto, the pipe), at an angle that is not parallel with the pipe. This adapter allowed me to accomplish this, by using a standard screw-on coax clamp, which screwed into the adapter body instead of into the pipe. See photos.
There are four versions:
The difference between the regular version and the ‘Lite’ version is how much surface area there is on the face of each adapter, and the quantity of filament used; it's a trade-off.
I mounted an O.T.A. TV antenna on my roof, and then zig-zagged the coax antenna cable around two roof pipes to keep it in place, because I didn't want to screw down the cable to the roof. However, I wanted to secure the cable so that it would stand up to high winds, and so that it wouldn't rub on the pipes. The cable runs roughly perpendicular to the pipes, so using just a zip tie would make it so that the zip tie would twist the cable vertical as it was tightened. This adapter allowed me to securely wrap the zip tie around the diameter of the pipe, while keeping the coax cable roughly parallel with the roof line. Since the cable clamp, or whatever is being mounted to the bracket, screws flush against the face of the adapter, the cable can be rotated vertically to any angle. Rotating horizontally on a pipe would be accomplished by rotating the zip tie itself.
General Info & Specs:
Note: Take note of the length of the clamp screw that you are using. make sure that it is not too long. It generally would not be good for the screw to protrude out through the back face of the adapter, and then come in contact with the base object (pipe, etc.).
Note: I originally designed just the H.D. version with the larger zip tie slot, but then I decided to make the standard zip tie versions. So, one of the original attached graphics shows standard ties in an H.D. adapter. FYI
