Description
A small scale model of the Hexgate Failsafe Core seen in Arcane.
I have a full dome version that is a full semi-circle and a “challenge” version for people who trust their printers to do very fine pillars who want an open structure. It isn't an exact 1 to 1 replica, but I'd like to think I got it recognizable.
HexgateFailsafeDome x 1
RingHolder x 18
Ring x 1
For a solid dome, print all 20 parts out and use 5 minute 2-part epoxy to glue the RingHolder x 18 parts to the dome. I found that letting the epoxy sit for 3-4 minutes to become viscous before applying in batches of 3-4 at a time really helps the wedges stick to the dome. Super-glue with activator spray would also work. They align with the slots but don't always quite fit in. I got my model to work. Use a heat gun to gently curve the door grate and glue it into the front of the model dome.
ChallengeDome
For the challenge dome, do the same thing as above but also print out a bunch of the Gears/Panels/OddsandEnds and then glue them into the inner parts of the dome's lower rim (again 2-part epoxy that has had a little time to turn viscous is enough to get pieces to stick).
