Wireframe Rhombic Dodecahedral Sierpiński Octahedron Fractal Structure - Level 4

This model features a wireframe rhombic dodecahedron, designed in CAD and refined through an iterative process to form a Sierpiński Octahedron fractal structure. It includes a seamlessly attached base and prints without requiring any support structures. The intricate design allows light to shine through in unique ways from different angles, including a circular pattern in the isometric view.

I've included a 3MF with all settings pre-configured, as well as a scaled-down version for the Bambu Lab A1 Mini.

I hope you enjoy printing this model as much as I enjoyed making it. I'm looking forward to sharing more with you soon, as well as Level 5 of the series.

Print Settings:

Supports: None

Infill: 100%, Rectilinear

Layer Height: 0.16mm with 0.2mm base layer

Brim: Use a large inner and outer brim (I use 8mm though you can probably get away with a bit smaller if you wish)

Be careful when removing the brim. It requires a bit of patience. Using a small pair of snips makes the process much easier.

Fair Warning: This model takes time to print, but the results are well worth the wait, and it makes for an epic timelapse video. The red print shown in the photos took 74 hours on my Bambu Lab P1S. I’ve also included a scaled-down version that prints beautifully in just 36 hours on smaller printers like the Bambu Lab A1 Mini, and both versions include pre-configured 3MF files.
