Aldarra Ship Painting Tools (Updated: 15/02/25)

I have added 2 new smaller sized Racks ('Paint Rod Rack 18' and 'Paint Rod Rack 26') and 2 new ship paint rod lengths ('Ship Paint Rod 75' and ‘Ship Paint Rod 100’). These should help take up less space and give different heights to the ships being painted, with more able to fit in the available rack spaces.

These tools are designed to help you paint your ships from the board game ‘ALDARRA’. The idea behind this was to be able to paint the ships without getting paint on the clear blastic ship bases. The tools I have provided for this can work individually, or all together using the idea of a production factory process. This is outlined in the instructions below.

Instructions:

1. To undercoat your ships, use the ‘Paint Rod Spray Rack 11’ - This can hold a maximum of 11 ships, however it can be extended to attatch more ships. You would do this by printing 2x ‘Tiger Clip v3’ for each extra section. push the clips in as far as they go (into one of the end's side slots) then push in the 2nd ‘Paint Rod Spray Rack 11’. There is no limit to how many racks you can attatch to each other as long as you print 2x ‘Tiger Clip v3’ for each extra ‘Paint Rod Spray Rack 11’ needed. You will also need to print 1x ‘Ship Paint Rod’ for each ship you wish to paint. Remove the clear plastic base from your ship by gripping it fully and pulling down. Next insert the ‘Ship Paint Rod’ so that the slot is at the bottom, facing towards the front of the ship. Then push the ship down onto the top of the rod. You can then put the rod into one of the ‘Paint Rod Spray Rack 11’ keyed holes (They will only fit in one direction).
2. If you just wish to use the ‘Paint Rod Handle’ without undercoating (or after your ships have been undercoated) then follow these rules: Without Undercoating: Take one of the ‘Ship Paint Rod’ and align the slot at the bottom of it, with the arrow on top of the ‘Paint Rod Handle’ and push it in as far as it will go. Next push your ship onto the top of the ‘Ship Paint Rod’. After Undercoating: With the undercoated ship still attatched to it's ‘Ship Paint Rod’, align the slot with the arrow on top of the ‘Paint Rod Handle’. The ship should also be facing forward in the direction of the arrow. You can now paint your ship as desired.
3. The Rack(s) can now be used for standing your undercoated / painted ships on, either after painting one colour at a time, or a fully painted ship. There are currently 2 available… The 36 or 50 max ship capacity racks ('Paint Rod Rack 36' and ‘Paint Rod Rack 50’ respectively). Just pull out the ‘Ship Paint Rod’ (with ship still attatched) from your ‘Paint Rod Handle’ or ‘Paint Rod Spray Rack 11’ and place it in any keyed hole on the rack (They will only fit in 1 way). Print as many rack's as you need.

What is next?…

I am currently designing a hex grid system to hold the map tiles in place, and make it easier to replace any tile with your home start tiles (without moving any of the other tiles). This is modular and can be modified to suit your sized table (with or without an attachable border) - (Now Available). I am also designing a 3D version of the ‘Explored’ token - (Now Available). Another thing I am designing is a player board to hold the cards and big faction sheet. gaminggeek241 (from youtube) https://www.youtube.com/@gaminggeek241 has requested someone to try to make a compact version that holds all the cards and ships (without the large sheet), using up as little space as possible. This is an ongoing design thought that I will be attempting and he has given me an idea to make a ship board that attatches to the player board too. All of this is to come, as and when possible.
