Description
Second set of spine models for the Elegoo Neptune 4 Plus/Max. This is to complete your printer if you have already printed “Give your Elegoo Neptune 4 Plus/Max a spine, a cable chain spine” also by edl. Print these 3 new models and have your cable chains match each other. Like the original, this requires no additional hardware to get installed.
Noticed on my printer the bed cable takes a less than smooth arc from the base up to the bed and this chain helps with that by forcing the cable to flex across more of the cable length to hopefully reduce wear during print plate movement.
A word of caution on printhead clearance after installing. The installed plate connector for the chain to terminate at the bed could collide with the printhead zero sensor if you have modified the Klipper configuration to print beyond default in the Y direction, and/or if you have installed a custom printhead shroud. Reduce the number of chain segments if need be to avoid conflict.
This chain style has a very unique organic look and my complements to rogerquin for coming up with the original design that has proven to be quite adaptable.
Base (1) - Install first. Slip over the bed cable and the barrel end fits into the printer base.
Plate (1) - Install second. Slip over the bed cable near the print bed with the socket pointing out towards the cable. The spine segments will fill the length of the bed cable and hold everything in place.
Spine (about 17 for N4+) - Slide these on with the nub against the bed cable and pull forward and push into the cable at the same time. Do not click together (at an angle) until you have them on the cable as you will need free space to get them all on.
Print everything vertically without supports at a slow speed. Found the tighter the layer height the tighter the socket fit and less initial flex. Printing with PETG gave good results at 0.24 layer height. By design the chain will always have a bit of an arc so the segments need be connected with a bit of an angle. Suggest snapping segments together and working them a bit before installing.
