Description

My TPU-printed rubber feet are a very nice design to quickly create cheap feet for various devices. However sometimes you want the feet to be even softer than possible with TPU. So silicone casting comes in handy: Print this mold to cast feet using  addition curing silicone.

If the feet were cast entirely from silicone, the result would be far too soft. In order to retain the shape and still be soft on the outside, I came up with the idea of also printing a skeleton that would be integrated into the casting.

Additional Material required:

  • 4 hex screws M3x25mm
  • 4 M3 nuts
  • 4 M3 washers

Printing

Both the mold and the skeletons are printed in PLA in order to have best resolution. The mold uses a height range modifier in order to print a layer height of 0.05mm (!) in the relevant heights for reproducing the shape of the foot as good as possible.

Silicone Casting

Silicones I have used for casting:

  • For black feet: Troll Factory TFC Type 35: 7g A + 7G B + 1g black color for two molds (8 feet)
  • For white feet (or other light colors): Troll Factory TFC Type 12: 7g A + 7G B for two molds (8 feet)

Design and Source Code

The feet and the mold have been designed using OpenSCAD. I have provided the source code for download, so you can adjust the design to your needs.

Happy printing!
