Aldarra Hex Map System

This is a hex grid system to hold the map tiles in place, and make it easier to replace any tile with your home start tiles (without moving any of the other tiles). This is modular and can be modified to suit your sized table (with or without an attachable border).

I have included a single hex, 3 types of double (joined) hexes and 2 types of triple (joined) hexes. I have limited it to 3 maximum joined, as any more would require a bigger print bed. If you would like more tiles joined for a bigger bed, then please let me know in the comments.

The type 1 (A,B,C and D) borders fit the edge of the hex without a lip, and the type 2 (A,B,C and D) borders fit the edge of the hex with a lip. (Instruction sheet in download section).

TIP:

I would suggest starting by printing one of the starter sets, to make sure the system works for you and your printer. Once printed you will have 3x hexes which you can then clip together using 3 of the printed clips. The other 3 are spares. I have made the system in such a way that the clips can easily be removed with a small screwdriver (if needed). Just push it under one of the sides of the clips and twist it to make it pop off. If you have good fingernails then you could just use them, but please don't damage them.

What is next?…

Another thing I am designing is a player board to hold the cards and big faction sheet. gaminggeek241 (from youtube) https://www.youtube.com/@gaminggeek241 has requested someone to try to make a compact version that holds all the cards and ships (without the large sheet), using up as little space as possible. This is an ongoing design thought that I will be attempting and he has given me an idea to make a ship board that attatches to the player board too. All of this is to come, as and when possible.
