EuroCell French Window Hinge Covers

The ABS covers on the hinges of the French windows in my home have discoloured over a few years (which one might expect for ABS in the open air subject to the UV from the sun's rays!). Having made enquiries about replacements, I discovered that there were none available, so 3d printer to the rescue.

These are clip-on covers to replace or cover the original ABS parts.  There is no need to dismantle the door, only the need to remove one of the original covers.

The larger hinge cover is a replacement for the clip-on cover. It does not have the rounded front of the original cover because this would be difficult to print. The original cover unclips if the clips closest to the door pivot are lifted away from the hinge using a small screwdriver - upwards for the upper clip and downwards for the lower clip. The door / French Window needs to be open for access for this. The replacement cover then slides on from the open end of the door and clips in place just like the original.

The smaller, open rectangle cover is a slip-over cover to disguise the original. It opens at one end to allow fitting over the hinge bracket without removing the hinge from the frame, and then clips at either the lower end or upper end - your choice when you fit them. they fit easily over the metal hinge and can be clipped closed and then slid over the ABS part. It's a snug fit! The clearance of the clip at one of the narrower ends of the cover is only 0.25mm  & will probably need to be eased apart carefully after printing. 

Each French Window needs six of each cover.

I used FilaBee ASA in White, which is a slightly starker white than I was looking for, but it may weather a little to blend better.

I printed with my Bambu Lab X1C & 0.4mm nozzle at 270°C, on a smooth PEI build plate at 105°C, in a chamber at 45 to 50°C, with an 8mm brim. I used 3 perimeters, 0.16mm layers, and 4 top and bottom layers in aligned rectilinear. “Hinge & Bracket Covers x6.3mf” has 2 plates with 6 of each cover with the above settings for the X1C.
