Description

It’s the Bubble Slime from the hit JRPG Series Dragon Quest! Or, y’know, it could be a Liquid Metal Slime if you’re savvy enough to print it in silver instead.

The Green Bubble Slime is the Single Extruder assembled version, and the Silver Liquid Metal Slime is the AMS version.

I’ve adapted this using a model from one of the games (I think the mobile one?).

The printing itself is pretty straight-forward; there are .stl and .step files for Single-Extruder printers or those with an AMS (or other multi-color printers). Their names contain exactly which version they are. The 3mf file already has everything split up and ready to go, but if you’re going to process the model yourself, a few tips:

  • The pupils and whites are pretty darn small, so I’d recommend a raft or brim. Or just to print them with AMS so you don’t have to deal with it. With patience and some tweezers,  you should be able to put them together just fine, though. It’s just kinda a pain.
  • There are tabs on all the pieces in order to help you line things up.
  • You need to put the pupils into the whites from the back first, since the tabs prevent you from putting it in from the front. The whites have two grooves in the bottom; the deeper one fits into the tab on the pupil and the shallower one fits into the slot on the main body itself. The left eye (Slime’s perspective) has an even deeper groove than the right one, to help you differentiate.
  • Since there are some sections of the slime body that are a bit steep, you may want to use variable layer heights to avoid stair-stepping.

But as always, if you have any questions, let me know, and happy printing!
