Description
I hate sewing. I really hate sewing but my grandmother used to enjoy sewing up my work clothing that always ripped weekly from my abrasive warehouse job. Since my grandmother has passed, I decided to fix my own clothing since clothing ain't cheap in this economy and it doesn't look that hard (it is though). I managed to break a needle and broke the plastic presser foot holder on the Brother LX3817 sewing machine when I forgot to raise the foot before yanking out the fabric. Unfortunately the customer support for Brother sewing machines are useless and have told me that they do not sell any parts to sewing machines…
Thus I was forced to somewhat remake the presser foot as best as I was able to. It is not exactly like to original (since it's in pieces..) but it holds the foot on really tight but still swivels and is removable.
I would advise printing this is something pretty heavy duty since it is a structural part; I would use either ABS, ASA, PA6-GF, or PC. PETG may work depending on if you like to take risks. I printed this part at 100% infill with 6 walls using CarbonX ABS- CF filament.
So far I've used the sewing machine for a few hours and it appears to hold up just fine.
UPDATE 1/21/26 : it's been over a year since I made and have used this part extensively and it's still holding up awesome.
