Description
Version 2 of my filament guiding system for the Elegoo Neptune 4 Plus — redesigned from scratch with smoother geometry, improved pulley design and an integrated filament shield.
Update (v2.1):
The filament guides have been redesigned to prevent the filament from slipping off the guide rollers. The new integrated guide tube keeps the filament centered while maintaining full compatibility with the existing design. No other parts have changed.
Redesigned filament guides
Integrated guide tube prevents the filament from slipping off the rollers
More reliable filament path during printing
Fully compatible with the previous version
Only the guide parts have been updated
The two custom pulleys use less material, look cleaner and ensure smooth filament movement around the bearings. The holder edges are refined for a tighter fit and better durability.
As before, you’ll need two 608 bearings and simple M3 cylinder screws for mounting. I also use 3D-printed washers, but standard ones work just as well.
Supports are required for the protective shield section (tree or grid type, Z-distance 0.3–0.5 mm recommended).
• Nozzle 230–250 °C (≈ 240 °C sweet spot)
• Bed 70–90 °C (≈ 80 °C recommended)
• Layer height 0.2 mm
• Speed 40–80 mm/s
• Fan 20–50 %
• Retraction 4–6 mm @ 30–50 mm/s
• First layer slow (15–20 mm/s) + slightly over-extrude
Use a brim or glue stick for better adhesion. An enclosure isn’t required but helps in drafty environments.
Compact upgrade, cleaner prints, and smoother filament flow — simple improvement with a real impact.
