Description

These adapters mount on the Nevermore V6 filter in place of the activated carbon cartridges, and direct an air flow towards the top of the print on Voron Tirdent and similar machines.

 

I designed mine for the Tiny-T (150 mm down sized Voron Trident), but I am including the parametric design for easy adaptation to other printers. if someone adapts it in particular for other “vanilla” trident sizes (250, 300, 350 mm), I will be glad to add the related files here too.

The design is made of two parts, one is a spacer, and one is the actual cooling duct, held together by the same magnets used on the Nevermore cartridge. This allows me to stow away the system on a magnetic plate in the back of my Tiny-T when not in use, and allows to tune the height and direction separately if needed, without reprinting everything. 

If you have a Tiny-T, you should be ok with the provided files already.

 

The ducts print upright without supports, placing them upside-down in the slicer, but you may  still want to add organic supports form the bed only for a cleaner edge.

Do not forget to mirror the duct if you put one on each side, or you will have a mismatched pair.

Both the spacers and the ducts will benefit from printing with a brim, the spacer in particular has a very thin contact surface compared to the size of it, and if you print in ABS warping can be an issue too.

 

If you have a different printer and want to try and adapt the design, you can do so with the included Fusion 360 file.

To adjust height, just adjust the extrusion length of the spacer, which will make it taller or shorter. For this, you should not rely on the position of the bed in the cad file depending on your tool head and nozzle type your Z0 may sit at a higher or lower point. park the bed at Z0, then measure the distance between the bed and the X beam of the gantry,  

To adjust the direction and spread of the vanes, you have to edit the “cooling vanes” sketch, entering the shape of your bed, relative to where your nevermore is installed, and adjusting the length of the duct, it should regenerate nicely but you may want to tweak the fillets and chamfer of the 90° curve, if the changes are too big.

For convenience I grouped all the other operations in the cad file so that only the relevant ones stand out and you don't have to go and fish them out of the full timeline:

Bonus item, I am experimenting with a deflector, since part of the air flow inevitably ends up cooling the bed itself. I include it with no strings attached if you want to try it too, I have it all in the same cad file anyways, along with a bracket you may find useful and a blank cover for the fans housing that I also posted as a separate model.
