Description

The coupler is designed for Sky-Watcher Evolux 62ED and its original focuser.

I have a several telescopes and I did not want to have same amount of electronic focusers. What I also did not want to get into is frequent assembly and disassembly of single focuser.
Then I found the MFT EAF principle and loved it ever since. This design is compatible with other MFT found on printables (such as this model).

I wanted to avoid disassembling the focuser's rotator, so I designed a sleeve which is just pushed on to fit. It holds pretty tightly without generating any additional backlash.

This magnetic coupler uses cylindrical magnets diameter 9mm and length 5mm.

The magnets are pushed deeper into the model on one side and stretches out on the other. Both models have designed magnet's end-stops so you can push them to the end.

Please double check the magnets orientation before gluing them down.

Both magnetic models also have glue-release holes, so after finishing the magnets push, please carefully clean the part from excessive glue.

Tolerances on the female gear EAF part are so tight that I did not need to use any screws. Should you need to tighten them even more, there are predesigned holes in the part for two M3 headless screws from opposite directions.

The EAF Holder part is held to the dovetail with M6 screw. The nut is hot-pressed (tighter tolerance) into the part and also glued which ensures good position and stability.

I provide STL as well as STEP files.
I recommend importing STEP files directly into the slicer as STEP model format prevents having polygons instead of circular surfaces.

 

UPDATE: I've added more robust version to prevent bending when printed from PETG.
