Description
I run an Unraid server inside a Fractal Design Define 7 XL. My drives are connected to a PCI-E SAS adapter which unfortunately has a bunch of green LED's which can't be disabled.
This system runs in the same room I sleep in, so the light emitted from the SAS adapter tends to illuminate the room.
This shroud is designed to negate this by absorbing much of the light (if printed in a non-green colour, such as Black) and to redirect it off to the right-side of the case (when the case is viewed from the rear).
A large gap ensures that airflow from GPU's and other PCIE devices can still escape, though as with any redirection of airflow, usage of this shroud may cause temperatures to increase.
The shroud is designed to be attached with magnets, and 2 slots for ND magnets measuring up to 60 x 13 x 3 mm have been integrated. These are aligned with the area above the vertical PCI brackets of the case, and directly across it.
Due to the nature of this device, it is unsuitable for servers where external cables are connected to PCIE devices (e.g. monitors), unless you are using angled or very low-profile connectors.
