I was tired of my counter getting dirty with leftover ground salt or pepper from this Ikea spice grinder. Also, I wanted something to differentiate the salt and the pepper one.

The base keeps your counter clean and the ring slips on an indentation in the spice grinder and serves as an indication of what is what.
