Description

A remixed version of the iconic Benchy benchmark boat in which Benchy struck an iceberg!

As more and more 3D printers allow printing with multiple colors, I thought Benchy deserved a remix for learning and testing multi color 3D printing.

It's also a reminder that, without icebergs we could not have this 3D model! And we should try to reduce wasting resources, because it hurts our environment and I believe that 3D printing can contribute to this, because there are a lot of 3D models that can help with fixing parts in broken products and this allows us to give them a second life instead of turning them into waste!

I wanted to print a red Benchy, but I only had red PETG and white PLA. As PLA and PETG don't stick together, I decided to print the boat in Prusament Galaxy Black PLA and Prusament Pristine white PLA instead.

This is one solid 3D model and I used Prusa Slicer to slice the model. I used bucket fill to paint everything black! Then I used smart fill to make the ice berg white, but this will leave the first layer at the bottom of the iceberg black. At the bottom, I used the brush tool to paint the two places where the boat touches the iceberg white and then used bucket fill under the iceberg to color it white.

Printed with no support and no wipe tower.

I think I ended up with a little bit of stringing, because the PLA has been exposed to air for a couple of weeks. I should have dried it to make a better print.

I'm looking forward to see makes in different colors!
