Description
Ji
Polearm
The ji was a Chinese polearm, sometimes translated into English as spear or halberd, though they are fundamentally different weapons. They were used in one form or another for over 3000 years, from at least as early as the Zhou dynasty, until the end of the Qing dynasty. They are still used for training purposes in many Chinese martial arts
This subscale model is approximately 26.25 inches or 667.7 mm long.
It consists of 5 pieces.
The blade
The Chrome handle connecting piece
The two-piece handle
The handle end piece
I used 4 colors plus support material. (Note: I have reprinted this with the Chrome handle and blade as the same filament -silver, so 3 colors)
The Blade: consists of two halves and two connectors. The second connector extends out to connect to Chrome handle connecting piece I only used support material for the blade slots for the connectors.
The Chrome connecting piece: I used a silver filament here. The option to use support material here may make the hole to connect to the blade a little hard to get out. I had no trouble, but it is a small hole. The top treads need no support.
The two-piece handle: Each handle piece is about 6 inches or 153 mm long. Printing this vertically produces the best roundness and the best threads. However, I strongly suggest 6 raft layers. They fell over twice using 4 raft layers.
The handle end piece: This piece is only 2.8 inches or 71.35 mm long (including the treads). There is no need for support here. You can use any color you desire here, just different than the handle.
While my intention was to require no glue, I did glue the blade pieces together to have the blade edge mate.
