Description

DRAPED ELEGANCE | Wall Lamp

Meet the wall light version of my Draped Elegance table lamp.

The shade mirrors the natural charm of a draped fabric, creating an inviting atmosphere that effortlessly combines elegance with an organic touch.

The lamp comes in 2 versions:

  • Medium: diameter Ø240mm
  • Small: diameter Ø209mm
I'll make a Larger version soon, for extra large printers.

It works with a magnetic rechargeable LED light bulb with remote control.

You can get the light bulbs from Amazon here:
For Europe: https://amzn.to/3QIbIPN
For America: https://amzn.to/3DlVkkJ

You can fix the base to the wall with a screw.
Or if you want a rental friendly solution, you can use 2 Large velcro adhesive strips.

You can get the 3M COMMAND adhesive strips from Amazon here:
(Large size, velcro type)

Happy printing!

DIMENSIONS (Medium) | Ø 240 mm, D 120 mm
DIMENSIONS (Small) | Ø 209 mm, D 110 mm

3D PRINT SETTINGS:
All STL files are already oriented properly.
You need to print 3 parts:

  • a base plate to fix on the wall
  • a base for housing the light bulb
  • a shade, which comes in plain version and you need to print with the following settings.

THE SHADE:
The shade file looks plain, that's normal.
Vase mode is too fragile since it only has 1 perimeter wall.
So we'll print the shade as a shell with 3 perimeter walls as follow:

  • set perimeter walls to 3
  • set top and bottom faces to 0 layers, to cancel the top and bottom faces
  • set infill to 0% That's it.

For Bambu Lab users, make sure to set "wall generator" to "arachne" to save some print time on this particular print.

FUZZY SKIN:
If you want a rough surface, which bouces light quite nicely, you can use some fuzzy skin:

  • fuzzy skin point distance: 0.8mm
  • fuzzy skin thickness: 0.3mm I wanted the inside of the shade to be shiny, so I only used fuzzy skin on the outside of the shade.

BASE:
No particular tricks for these two parts.
I used 0.2mm per layer and 15% infill.

Happy printing!
