Magnetic Dust Collection Connectors Set for Dust Extraction

Hello, 

This was definitely not my idea, but what was available didn't quite suite my needs so I completely redrew a set of my own with some upgrades and went a bit crazy haha!

 

This design is based on 3x10mm round magnets (Amazon afilliate link:  https://amzn.to/46P5YeA).  The holes are 10mm deep to have space for 3 magnets stacked + gule . I like 3 magnets per hole for holding power but you can get by with 2 magnets per hole if little movement is expected but since magnets are cheap…

For glue I used 5 minute epoxy (Amazon affiliate link: https://amzn.to/4koy7z7 ).

Print orientation is designed to work best with the magnet ring facing up!
On most parts except the most complex ones this will result in no need for supports.

Magnets are to be placed with alternating polarity. That way you can never have a connector with wrong polarity. You simply turn it 1/8 of a turn and it wil snap in place.
When disconnecting, turning 1/8 of a turn and the repelling magnets help you to take it of without effort!

There is a ridge (male) or a grove (female) on the connectors so they don't slide off to the side and disconnect. This does mean that ORIENTATION IS IMPORTANT!!!
I designed the set as such that the tool always gets a MALE connector and the hose gets a female connector.
To be able to extend hoses with one another I also made 100mm insider female and a 100mm outside male version to connect the hose to the collector ducting pipe. Don't get these confused!!!

I used the following settings:

• PETG
• 0.4mm nozzle
• 0.2mm layer height
• Use supports (just turn it on, most prints don't actually use them if printed in the right orientation though!)
• 6 perimeters
• Cubic infill
• 25% infill 
• brim 2mm
