Description

So I was looking at poop chutes for my K2 Plus. There are a lot of them out there, and they're very good at what they do, but I feel they're a bit...functional. I thought they could use a little more whimsy!

So I had a thought that made me chuckle, and I decided to create it. Here is my poop chute with a bin. It's Nakatomi Tower (in real life, Fox Plaza in Los Angeles) from "Die Hard," the Christmas movie. Each little piece of plastic can be its own Hans Gruber, plummeting down to its destiny. Rather than design it from scratch, I modified the "Nakatomi Plaza" model on Thingiverse by flightrec.

The 3mf file has separate plates for the upper Nakatomi, the lower Nakatomi, some standoff's and a lower platform. There are also two plates with a multi-color version.
 

I initially printed the upper part in copper-colored filament. Because it used more filament than I anticipated, I ran out at the end of the print. So I didn't want to start over. I had leftover rainbow filament that I've had for a few years, so I decided to use it up. That's why the lower part is rainbow. If it's all the same color, it looks like a single building. I had designed the tower to mount flush to the back of the printer, but the stand-off's are there because I realized that if the multi-filament buffer is mounted to the back of the printer, it will collide with the tower. The stand-off's can be installed to keep the building clear of the buffer. I used 12 x 3 mm neodymium magnets from Home Depot.
I added the platform because I had originally intended for the building to be suspended from the magnets but the hold isn't strong enough. The printer's plastic covering over the metal creates too much space for the magnets to hold tightly. The platform should hold the building at the correct height.
