Description
This is a mount for placing a Cedar Alpha “Metal Roof Cedar Bird House” on top of a section of 2" schedule 40 PVC pipe. This is the bird house: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B091KJRZDY
We typically mount our freestanding bird houses using a combination of a driven 6' “T” post and a 5' section of 2" schedule 40 PVC pipe. The “T” post provides a strong stable vertical support. Covering it with a section of 2" PVC provides a clean look and an attachment point for the bird house.
This particular bird house did not have a good provision for mounting against a vertical surface, only providing a hinged “ring” from which to hang it. It also has a hinged back wall for cleanout. This would be obstructed by firmly mounting the back wall to a vertical surface.
This model provides for a mounting structure on top of the PVC pipe which is secured to the base of the bird house. It leaves the back wall accessible for cleanout.
The model prints as two parts to avoid the need for supports. The model is assembled by sliding the dovetailed pieces together. An M3 screw in the center can be used to lock them together. The assembly slides over the bottom of the bird house. Four screw holes are available to secure the mount to the bottom of the bird house with small wood screws.
The mount should be printed from a UV and weather resistant material. I used white ASA to coordinate with the white PVC. Both could be painted if desired.
