The DJ Revolve-It

March 6, 2025
Description
This functional USB 2.0 Extension and organizer utilizes wireless induction power to light up multiple LEDS. The whole thing is motorized and can be powered by a phone, power-bank or computer. You can access the stationary thumb-drive to read and write your music samples while the party keeps spinning.
You don't need a motor or LEDs, just use a 608 bearing and leave the gears off the build; things will spin smoothly. You can fill the LED ports with printed “Jewels” of which I include as a model.
The gear ratio can be changed since I made the larger gear threaded and include a cutout for making your own. To make the threads, I wrote a python script that reads in a list of thread sizes and produces a Fusion 360 configuration file for external and internal (as a Boolean cutout) printable [no support needed] threads with different tolerances. I've included the files so that you can recreate the threads or make your own custom sizes.
I've also included the schematic for wiring things up.
Sorry for the short description, this design took me a lot longer than I thought and the deadline for the contest is in just a bit. I really hope you like my design. I don't know much about being a DJ (yet) but I thought every DJ should have some spinning lights to put on a show. The goal was to make a DJ gadget that was portable, functional and fun.
