Description
It belongs in a museum!
Or in your office. Or maybe the mantle. Who knows?! It's entirely up to you where to display (or store) the Ark of the Covenant. Hopefully, if you're taking the time to print this out, you're not considering crating it up and storing it in a warehouse.
This excellent model has been scaled to approximately 158x127x122mm (outer dimensions - box with the lid on top); the interior of the ark is approximately 111x60mm and the print profile is set to print at 0.16mm Optimal quality.
I designed the poles pictured above after remixing the ark, so those are available as a separate model here: The Ark Poles
I took some artistic liberties with the top and bottom finish, choosing to use the Octagram Spiral for the top and bottom surface pattern. The model can be printed with any PLA filiment then spray painted gold afterwards, but you may loose the detail and surface pattern. I chose to print in Gold Silk PLA (Reprapper Brand).
I've done my best to optimize the amount of supports required for a quality print and do not recommend printing without supports. Do so at your own peril!
** CONSTRUCTION NOTES **
Print Ark lid and Cherubim separately and use the posts on the lid to align the registration holes in the Cherubim topper. I tried to make these friction fit, but it's too delicate, so you'll want to use the post on the lid as alignment guides and use some glue to connect the topper to the lid.
