Description
My cat likes to break into our wall-to-wall sliding door closet by furiously pawing at the crack between the wall and the door until she eventually manages to push through, so that she may then take down all of the clothing on shelves and scratch our stored luggage. So, I created this simple hook/latch/lock thing to hold the wall and sliding door together. With this, she can no longer push through 😺
She's a tiny cat, so I used medium size non-velcro ("replacement") command strips, however you could probably also make this work for baby/child proofing purposes by scaling up the parts to make them a bit beefier and using a stronger double-sided adhesive tape.
Â
1) Print the catch.stl and latch.stl first; I did them at the same time for convenience.
2) Next, when printing pin.stl, just before the top of the pin begins to widen either manually pause the print or add a pause in the slicer of your choosing.
3) Place the loop of the latch on the pin, ring toss style, then resume the print.Â
Note: I chose to add a bit of cardboard under the latch in step 3 to support it/stop it from dangling and prevent possible warping from resting on the heated bed. However, there's only minutes left to the print after this step so you likely don't actually 100% need to do this.
