Description
2025/07/29 Update: Added a small channel for cable management. I used Velcro and super glued it to the back panel.
2025/03/27 Update: Added vented front middle part. Added new lid support arm to fit vented front.
This is the 2nd gen of my riser for the k1max. Came out pretty nice so I decided to share it. 1st one was 52mm (which is not enough for chain delete mod) never uploaded online.
I printed everything with Colido Gray and Black ABS. Took a very long time to print because of fuzzy skin (adds ~1 hour per part), but it looks really good with it.
It's important how you position the print or at what angle supports or bridges are printed. I try to keep supports printed at 45 degrees compared to first layer that prints on supports. See picture. For parts with vents, better to print top ventilation bridges straight lines.
Interesting features: Swing arm to support chain delete. A hole to route the toolhead cable outside the printer for cleaner look inside(needs drilling a hole in the back panel. The hole is hidden under covered wires).
Reuses original foam gasket (carefully remove it with metal spatula that was added with the printer) and needs basic transparent tape to be added under the foam so the vents would slide smoothly and would not get stuck.(over vent “knobs is enough”)
I attached the riser with 1mm 3M heat resistant double sided tape to the printer. Not easy to take off if needed.
If printing in ABS, it is recommended to print the middle parts separately to minimize the risk of warping. No problems when printing two corners at a time.
Full riser needs around 600-700g of filament.
Printing instructions:
0.2 layer height.
4 walls.
10% gyroid infill.
Normal Auto supports on build plate only.
Fuzzy skin: Contour.
Fuzzy skin point distance: 0.4mm.
Fuzzy skin thickness: 0.15mm.
Also needs:
For the swingarm:
1x 608zz bearing.
1x M4 screw.
1x M4 nut.
For the lid support arm:
2x M2 heat inserts
2x M2 screws
Print cylinder with fuzzy skin for tighter fit.
2x M3 heat inserts for the filament sensor.
Also some zip ties and(or) Velcro.
And a sleeve for the toolhead wires. I had 20mm so I used that. Maybe 10-15mm or so would be better.
No need for supports when printing swingarm or toolhead wire guide or vents.
