Description
Death Racers are like remote-controlled Rock ‘Em Sock ’Em Robots! Drive them around and compete against two or more other racers to try taking off your competitor's head!
The Ares model is the second iteration of a Death Racer featuring a mecanum-wheel drive system. This racer has the ability to move in any direction, including strafing from side to side, giving it unique agility on the battlefield! Ares has also been redesigned from the ground up compared to the original mecanum racer, making the build process easier, more robust and supporting many mods to the front and rear ends as well as weapons options and more.
The hardware and electronics for this build are self-sourced only for the time being and are not compatible with the BIGTREETECH Death Racer Kits. Check out what you'll need in the instructions here: Instructions before you get started, because the BOM is extensive. Just a fair warning, with five motors (including the spinning weapon motor) compared to the two motors of a Piranha Death Racer, and the goBilda hardware, this build is substantially more expensive than building a Piranha with a BTT kit.
The Death Racers were the brainchild of Michael Baddeley and Sam Prentice and have become a reoccurring event at 3d printing gatherings like 3D Printopia, Rocky Mountain RepRap Festival, Midwest RepRap Festival and the Sanjay Mortimer RepRap Festival in England. Historically, the files could be found (and still can be found) on Michael Baddeley's Patreon page: https://www.patreon.com/c/mrbaddeley/posts
