Description
I needed to tame the wild monster of a mess I had in my workshop; loose stacks of filament all about. Went looking for other models for a filament rack and saw a really neat model that would work very well for a small print bed - but I would have to print 8 of them and glue them up. Seemed wasteful and too much filament,
SO I fired up FreeCCAD and cranked this out. I printed qty 2 and cut the pipe to be about 760 mm long (about 2.5 freedom unit foots).
This was also a good test of printing ABS on my QIDI Plus 4. Worked like a champ: only just a little rough finish at the end of the top layer. I printed with a modified ABS profile. I bumped the bed temp to 110-deg C 1st layer and 105-deg C other layers and I added chamber heating at 50-deg C. I also printed at 0.28mm Extra Draft and 4x wall. Took about an hour and a half each.
Nice and solid. SO nice to have easily accessible storage for these spools!
