Option-O LAGOM casa 58mm portafilter holder

March 17 update: I've uploaded a reworked base design that I think is more aesthetically pleasing. See the first two photos in the image carousel. 

You can now build a holder to your preferences:

• more appealing Mark 2 base
• original Mark 1 base that offers more portafilter stability
• curved stand
• slim stand

This model allows me to grind coffee directly from my new Option-O LAGOM casa into a 58mm Profitec bottomless portafilter. It is held in place by a single magnet and is easily removable so you can grind into the standard catch cup.

The design is specific to my portafilter, which has a straight handle and 2 tabs. I do not own other portafilters and cannot create or test other variants. 

I have tested the model with a 29mm tall Normcore dosing ring and a ~15mm tall watchget ring. With 18g of beans ground at a 0.6.5 setting, the grinds fall close to the center of the basket and do not overflow either ring. The static retention around the exit chute is low.

I printed with a 0.4 nozzle and PLA. 

• 0.20mm Quality print setting
• 25% rectilinear fill
• 3 perimeters
• Supports are needed for the magnet hole only; I was able to print the semi-circle cutout on the stand without supports

The only hardware needed is a single magnet. I found mine at a local Ace Hardware: Magnet Source .118 in. L X .472 in. W Silver Super Disc Magnets 4.3 lb. pull 6 pc. You should be able to add fill and negative shapes in your slicer to accommodate other sizes of magnet.

With the  magnet press fit or glued in, the entire holder can be easily slid off when you want to grind into the Casa catch cup.
