Julius Caesar Knife Block

Description
Update, 3/27/2025: If you want to print this model exactly, I dug up my old amazon orders for the chef's knives and bread knife. I bought the 6 steak knives on the left side offline, and the kitchen shears hole should probably fit most options there.
— End of updates —
Here's a knife block I made a while back that always gets compliments. It was printed in two parts on a Raise3D Pro 2. I printed a block the same shape as the scissor hole and used that as an alignment key while epoxying the head and torso together.
I'm sharing the files since people have requested me to, but the holes are specific to the set of knives in my kitchen, so it is very much not a “one size fits all” project.
For people interested in making their own version, here was my process:
- Download the bust scanned by the Metropolitan Museum of Art on myminifactory
- Import it into meshmixer (other software such as 3D Builder or TinkerCAD would work too)
- Rescale the bust as needed
- Add cube primitives and rescale them to be slightly bigger than the blade of each knife
- Move and rotate these primitives in the model as desired
- Boolean subtract the primitives from the bust
- Cut the bust into pieces
- Assemble
- Admire
