Ehemalige Katholische Kirche 35713 Hirzenhain Bahnhof

Das Modell der ehemalige Katholische Kirche Zum Heiligen Kreuz in Hirzenhain Bahnhof (Ortsteil von 35713 Eschenburg) ist das erste einer vorgesehenen Reihe von Modellen in absehbarer Zeit profanierter, umgebauter, umgewidmeter oder abgerissener Kirchen der katholischen Pfarrei Zum Guten Hirten an der Dill. 

Aus der ehemaligen Kirche Zum Heiligen Kreuz entstehen künftig fünf Eigentumswohnungen dergestalt, dass man dem Wohnhaus den ehemaligen Kirchencharakter nicht mehr ansieht. 
Das Modell soll  ehemaligen Besuchern, die in der Kirche getauft, gefirmt, getraut wurden und anderen Interessenten - über Fotografische Darstellung hinaus gehend - zeigen, wie die Kirche und ihre Nebenräume einmal  ausgesehen haben. Deshalb ist das Modell so zerlegbar, dass auch der Innenraum nacherlebt werden kann. 

Das Modell entstand im Maßstab 1/100, ohne dass ich die Kirche je gesehen hatte, anhand der Originalpläne des Architekten und Fotos vom Zustand um den Zeitpunkt der Profanierung.

Nachdem das CAD-Original erstellt war, wurden in einer Kopie einige Merkmale zum Zweck besserer Druckbarkeit modifiziert (z.B. alle Türen so “aufgedickt”, dass ihre Stärke im Original 6 cm entsprechen würde. Auch die Feuerleiter, die Balustrade der Empore und die Form der Unterseite des Altarsteins wurden modifiziert.)
Die Kirche steht an einem Hang, der quer zum Kirchenschiff von der südichen Fenster-Seite nach Norden abfällt. Deshalb liegt das Fundament im Süden höher als im Norden, wo sich unter dem Kirchenschiff noch Toiletten, Gemeinschaftsraum und Sakristei befinden. 
Im Modell wurde das Fundament allseitig auf dasselbe Niveau gezogen, damit das Modell ohne Stützen gerade steht. Es soll später in ein Diorama mit ebenfalls geneigtem Geländeprofil eingebettet gezeigt werden, so dass diese “Ungenauigkeit” nicht mehr sichtbar ist.

Im Slicer wurden alle Teile auf den Maßstab 1/65 vergrößert (160%), um (unter vollständiger Nutzung de Bauraums des Prusa XL) das Modell möglichst robust zu gestalten. Die Achse, an der die Glocke beweglich aufgehängt ist, besteht aus einem Stück Filament. Entsprechend muss die Bohrung in “HH_Turm2_45” auf 1,8 mm aufgebohrt werden. Turm und Glocke wurden zwecks besserer mechanischer Belastbarkeit aus PETG gedruckt, der Rest aus PLA.

Aufgrund der bescheidenen Ausmaße der Kirche (Grundriss ~11m x ~18m) und ihres OriginalStandortes 35713 Eschenburg-Hirzenhain Bahnhof, Bahnhofstr. 43 (!) eignet sie sich auch für Modelleisenbahnen. (Der Maßstab 1/87 für H0 wird erreicht, wenn im Slicer 115% eingestellt werden.)  
Dabei bietet es sich an, die Innenausstattung (Empore, Bänke) und gegebenenfalls auch das Kellergeschoss sowie die Treppe zur Eingangstür weg zu lassen. Dann braucht man für eine farbige Ausgestaltung neben der Wahl der Filament-Farben für die Modellteile nur noch den Bereich der Südfenster und ihrer Betoneinfassungen und die Kirchentüren zu bemalen. 

The model of the former Catholic church Zum Heiligen Kreuz in Hirzenhain Bahnhof (a district of 35713 Eschenburg) is the first in a planned series of models of churches of the Catholic parish Zum Guten Hirten an der Dill that will be deconsecrated, converted, rededicated or demolished in the foreseeable future.

In future, the former church Zum Heiligen Kreuz will be converted into five condominiums in such a way that the former church character of the residential building will no longer be recognisable. 
The model is intended to show former visitors who were baptised, confirmed or married in the church and other interested parties - beyond photographic representations - what the church and its adjoining rooms once looked like. The model can therefore be dismantled so that the interior can also be relived.

The model was created on a scale of 1/100, without me ever having seen the church, using the architect's original plans and photos of its condition at the time of the profanation.

After the CAD original was created, some features were modified in a copy for the purpose of better printability (e.g. all doors were ‘thickened’ so that their thickness would correspond to 6 cm in the original. The fire escape, the balustrade of the gallery and the shape of the underside of the altar stone were also modified).
The church stands on a slope that falls away at right angles to the nave from the south window side to the north. This is why the foundations are higher in the south than in the north, where the toilets, common room and sacristy are located under the nave. 
In the model, the foundations were drawn to the same level on all sides so that the model stands upright without supports. It will later be shown embedded in a diorama with an inclined terrain profile so that this ‘inaccuracy’ is no longer visible.

In the slicer, all parts were enlarged to a scale of 1/65 (160%) in order to make the model as robust as possible (while fully utilising the building space of the Prusa XL). The axle, on which the bell is movably suspended, consists of a piece of filament. Accordingly, the hole in ‘HH_Turm2_45’ must be drilled out to 1.8 mm. The tower and bell were printed from PETG for better mechanical resilience, the rest from PLA.

Due to the modest dimensions of the church (ground plan ~11m x ~18m) and its original location 35713 Eschenburg-Hirzenhain Bahnhof, Bahnhofstr. 43 ("Bahnhof" is german for railway station!), it is also suitable for model railways. (The scale 1/87 for H0 is achieved if 115% is set in the slicer).  
It is a good idea to leave out the interior fittings (gallery, benches) and possibly also the basement and the stairs to the entrance door. Then, in addition to choosing the filament colours for the model parts, you only need to paint the area of the south windows and their concrete surrounds and the church doors.
